Visual Culture Jam; Consumerism and the effect of commodities on society

Many people tend to lose touch with reality, the meaning of life, and what is actually important. People chase after this image or idea of what they wish they or their life looked like due to the way commodities are marketed to the public. Commodities that are advertised generally tend to promote a certain way of living and that this commodity can give you what you’ve been searching for in order to feel fulfilled.

Many global brands exploit humans behind the scenes and infringe on animal rights in order to gather their resources but unfortunately many people are brainwashed by the marketing strategies and pay for the hugely over-priced commodities regardless as they want the image that comes along with the product, and the promises of a fantasy that may be depicted.

Inspiration
Mood board for the style I intended to go for
A representation of those who work to live the best possible life, but in reality don't end up living at all. He has sold his soul to the working world in order to afford various luxuries of which do not bring any actual meaning into his life.

In summary: The capitalist system as well as commodities and the endless hold it has on people
Granted every person needs to make a living, but somewhere along the way their visions become skewed where their hunger for money and their greed grows exponentially. They get to a point where they don’t realize how they spend majority of their lives chasing after this idea of happiness instead of just trying to live it themselves with those they care most about. Valuable time with family members or friends can never be bought back later in life and many people only realize this when it is too late.
