36 Days of Type 2019

36 Days of type... Well 26, since there are no numbers for elements, which is the theme behind this project.

I've always been fascinated with the periodic table of elements and what these essential building blocks for our lives happen to do and where are they used.

Almost every element has letter, except for J and Q. Each element in this project is represented by its initial letter in its atomic symbol. Which explains why you'll see a letter K, but the element is Potassium, or the letter W for Tungsten. Now, for the two letters that don't have any atomic symbol, I used minerals and used its compound on it's label in the corner. Minerals used are both Jalpaite and Quartz.

Each element has it's basic information on the top left-hand corner, including it's atomic symbol, number and weight.

See below for element glossary.

All type done in Cinema 4D. Except for certain liquid simulations and texture mappings, done in Blender and 3Ds Max, respectively.
Glossary:

A - Argon: Noble gas that turns blue when exposed to light.
B - Beryllium: Found in emeralds and high-voltage insulators.
C - Carbon: Essential building block for life. Found in diamonds.
D - Dysprosium: Soft and brittle metal. Used in neutron absorbing rods in nuclear reactors.
E - Europium: Used for LED screens and florescent light bulbs.
F - Iron: Almost anywhere and everywhere and when forged with carbon, produces steel.
G - Gallium: Lowest melting-point for any metal. Melting at 29°C. (melting simulation done in blender).
H - Hydrogen: Most abundant element in the universe. Seen in water (used blender for fluid-dynamics).
I - Iodine: Obliterates microbes. Used in industrial salt with Sodium Chloride .
J - Jalpaite: Copper and silver sulfate mineral, found in hydro-thermal vents.
K - Potassium: Used in gunpowder (particle simulation done in blender).
L - Lithium: Used in all our batteries for our electronic devices.
M - Magnesium: Example used is fro old cinema reels.
N - Nitrogen: Used predominantly in fertilizer and a common element in soils.
O - Oxygen: Pictured is an oxygen tank. Although our atmosphere is composed mostly of nitrogen.
P - Lead: Pictured are bullets.
Q - Quartz: Crystalline mineral, can be found in the reddish-pink tones as well.
R - Radon: Highly poisonous gas, can be found in some houses and is radioactive.
S - Silicon: Most common solid element on earth. Used in plastic and in solar panels.
T - Titanium: Used for rods and structures.
V - Vanadium: Can be found on certain types of mushrooms.
W - Tungsten: Old, yellow light bulbs use this in their fuse.
X - Xenon: Noble gas, that turns blue when shined through UV light.
Y - Yttrium: Formerly used in old CRT TVs.
Z - Zirconium: Used in cheaper jewelry.. Probably most bling and that pimp cup you ironically purchased in college because you'd think that sipping on lean would be kind of cool.
