On the moon, in a castle guarded by ghosts, lives darkness "the lord of shadows". Every ghost and shadow obeys him.
Darkness created the shadows million years ago and placed them on earth. The shadows can't live by themselves, they must repeat the shape of an object and all day and night stay in the shape they choose.
