This theatre design was greatly influenced by the 330 m2 urban site. I decided to design an improv theatre since there are no others in Halifax. This design corresponds to the rhythm of solids and voids along the busy street as well as creates an open-air public space on the main floor. The main floor lobby focuses on the exposed graffiti wall of the neighboring building. The design and program are meant to foster a sense of “word-mouth" community.
