When director Valentina Fratti came to us to discuss her latest project, Miranda Theatre Company's production of Joe Pintauro's Snow Orchid, the imagery I ended up eventually developing for the show was present in it's infancy after the initial description of the show. Set in 1964 Brooklyn, Rocco Lazarra is returning home to face his family after having suffered a nervous breakdown. As secrets are revealed, everyone is forced to re-examine their relationships, fears and dreams in this explosive family drama. The setting for the entire piece is the family's mid-century brownstone - so ideally the iconic entry way common to these structures made the perfect centerpiece to invite the viewer into the dark world they were entering.
