Client: Black Magic Records

Black Magic Records is an independent digital label based in Italy, founded in 2010 by the sicilian dj/producer Enzo Ponzio. The aim of the label is to find new sonorities within the field of nu-disco and cosmic without leaving aside deep and dark influences. Vintage Drum machines, deep and dark bass lines, spiced up with funky and disco.

The label manager asked me an identity with these fatures:

• must be something definitely funky but elgant and iconic at the same time.
• easy to be recognized, since from mp3 digital dealers thumbnails.
• must be useful for long term and many releases.

This work is inspired by those great NYC r&b, funky disco imprints as Atlantic and ZE Records, and the shape of their logos, plus the italian iconic RCA budget series Linea Tre (where Tre stands for 3.000 lire, the release price), started in June 1976.
