This project is my 2024 BFA  Graphic Design Capstone and is about microplastics pollution. Micro Cleanse is an idea that I wanted to bring awareness about microplastics and what is happening behind the scenes. I wanted to address the subject that is easy to understand that trash may not always be recycled but can also be wholly eliminated. The ongoing study that is about learning the new direction in the world that scientists are working to change current plastic materials to refine a better, biodegradable polymer. I found this to be an important subject that plays a huge role when it comes to single plastic use, we have access to almost daily.
My first ideas started out with my first choice of creating my designs in reference to children's books and what they represent in the process of my research.
This design is based on facts about the amount of trash that is thrown away and how the wast is discarded through a longer recycling process.
The design above is the main subject of my project that started the ongoing research on microplastic biodegradation. My research has broadened my view of what the world is working on to build a solution we don’t see with the naked eye. It had been a challenge through my creative process and what I created in terms of what I learned from the news. Scientists are developing an ongoing study on how to reduce microplastic pollution.
The postcard is the promotion to my senior capstone held during the exhibition at the University of West Georgia. I and my fellow classmates had the experience to display our work for a week and held a reception for others to listen to students' artist talks.
