The Fuerte de Isla Verde is a military installation designed by the engineer Juan de Subreville and built in 1734 on Isla Verde in front of the Villa Vieja of Algeciras and the mouth of the Miel River. The fort was built due to the sieges of the city of Gibraltar and expanded over the centuries until the construction of two machine gun bunkers in 1942. Today it is located inside the Port of Algeciras, very transformed and waiting for new archaeological interventions that put it in value.
