PIOVONO BIGLIE
Piovono Biglie is the metaphor of a different perception of the world, in which even a rain of marbles can change shape and represent the breaking of silence and isolation. In this work I address the issue of incommunicability in relation to deafness and my personal experience in the period of adolescent growth.
IL LIBRO DI VERA - VERA'S BOOK
IL LIBRO DI TOMMASO - TOMMASO'S BOOK
This is Tommaso's book: a collection of scans of his notebooks, highlighting his curious and sensitive side in wanting to reinterpret the virtual world of social networks. These fragments are an inescapable and complementary element to my images: even though the two books are separate, at the same time they assume equal identity. In the absence of speech, this way of communicating allowed him to share his thoughts simply and directly. This is an important aspect in which I recognized myself; it brought me closer on a more intimate level to his personality.
With this project I address the issue of incommunicability from the point of view of Tommaso - a seventy-seven-year-old gentleman suffering from deafness since birth - and my own experience during adolescence. Past and present alternate in an evocative dimension in which I was able to reflect myself and become aware of a part of my own experience.

Since I met him, I became part of his world of silences, gestures and a strong visual perception. The similarities between Tommaso and me are many: we both grew up cooped up and isolated in a bubble, consequently we faced numerous difficulties in connecting with people. Although the causes are different - for Tommaso deafness, for me shyness and introversion - a strong empathy was created between us.

In this work I also wanted to place side by side excerpts from one of Tommaso's notebooks, they highlight his desire to communicate with the outside world and with me. I consider these fragments as a parallel and complementary path to my images to highlight his more sensitive and curious side.

Through the language of photography, Piovono Biglie is configured as an intimate and personal space in which I was able to find points of contact with Tommaso, a person who simply wants to be heard and understood, without finding himself isolated.
