New Perspective Photography
Life at a different angle by Gabby Lugli
For this assignment I decided to try photographing new perspectives. My images don't follow a specific theme other than they all show new perspective which is an angle at which you wouldn't exactly look at an object. This genre of photography helped me to slowly start stepping out of my comfort zone in public as I was at most times laying on the ground to get the angled shots or the depth of field incorporated into the distance.
Having a variety of locations where I shot these images as you can tell, has helped me explore new perspectives with multiple items and objects. This was really fun to explore it brought out a creative side of me. As seen above in the first image I decided to try and capture a path down a trail which was focused close up but then I managed to add depth to the background. Secondly, I laid on the ground and decided to point up at this hydro tower as you wouldn't normally look at this object in such a way so that was neat to see. The following picture is of a piano I really like the angle I captured it at, mind-blowing how you wouldn't realize what the piano looks like in that angle unless you physically capture it or stare it down.
This picture shown above is of a sign posted in a construction area, I was again physically on the ground trying to capture the view of if I were to look from the ground up and I would see this. For the final image of the series, which is posted below. I decided to make it a Christmas image. When stockings are hung by the fireplace we always stare them down straight down, never from the side and so I decided to try capturing this and was really on how it turned out. Everything was clear and the background didn't have enough light so it stayed dark which added a cozier vibe to the image from what I found.
In Conclusion, I have discovered many new ways to capture new perspectives in this world. Stepping out of my comfort zone by a little each time will help me to achieve better photographs in the long run. Not sticking with a theme throughout the shoot helped me explore more settings and objects and it gave me these images in my project.
