Reflections
Going through the full iterative design process was an eye opening experience. One of my biggest takeaways is the importance of comprehensive, unbiased user research — it proved to be incredibly important during the ideation phase when I had a wealth of valuable research to look back on and formulate products.
I also improved my proficiency with digital prototyping tools and created renders to put my product in context, outlining possible use cases and situations where the calendar may be useful.
Overall, I enjoyed the process immensely; if given more time, I would try building a functional app that mimics the processes of this product and conduct user research by mounting a tablet in high traffic household areas and observing the way they interacted with it. From there, I would be able to further refine the product by allowing users to interact with the tangible product instead of abstract prototypes.
