The "cité de l'architecture et du patrimoine" is a national public industrial and commercial establishment, created in 2004 and open to the public in 2007. It brings together, in one institution, a museum, an architecture center, a school, a specialized library and an archive center.
In order to improve its impact, we had to imagine a new font character specific to the place. It will be a titling character and will be used for all of the establishment's communication. From a typography imposed beforehand, we had to, using a cache, redraw a complete alphabet.
My font was the Clarendon font. This character was carried out in 1845 in London. It belongs to the family of mechanics and is imposing due to its thick and rectangular wheelbases. So I chose a simple and rectangular cache, remembering the architectural facade of the building and highlighting the serifs. This cache brings dynamism and rigor to this particularly oily font.
La cité de l'architecture et du patrimoine est un établissement public national à caractère industriel et commercial, créé en 2004 et ouvert au public en 2007. Il réunit, en une même institution, un musée, un centre d'architecture, une école, une bibliothèque spécialisée et un centre d'archives.
Afin d'améliorer son impact, nous avons du imaginer un nouveau caractère de police propre au lieu. Ce dernier sera un caractère de titrage et servira à l'ensemble de la communication de l'établissement. A partir d'une typographie imposée au préalable, nous avons du, à l'aide d'un cache, redessiner un alphabet complet.
La police de caractère qui m'a été imposée est la police Clarendon. Cette dernière a été réalisée en 1845, à Londres. Elle appartient à la famille des mécanes et est relativement imposante de part ses empattements épais et rectangulaires. J'ai donc choisi un cache simple et rectangulaire, rappelant la façade architecturale du bâtiment et mettant en valeur les empattements. Ce cache apporte du dynamisme et de la rigueur à cette police particulièrement grasse.
