A subset of the Behance Team made the trek to Austin, Texas this year to attend the SXSW Interactive Festival. Our beloved TheServed.com project was up for an interactive award, and Scott Belsky presented some of Behance's research at a morning keynote (which received some coverage on some blogs like NewCityMedia, BionicTeaching, and DuckSXSW).

Other highlights included legos, the Behance gathering, and an ever growing fascination with Twitter. All in all, a good trip.

And we noticed the Twitter streams during the Behance keynote:

Although this “Core Conversation” was a bit rambling and confrontational at times, there were common threads in the anecdotal examples which the participants discussed. The easiest way to inject an educational experience into a game is to cause the player to actively reflect on their time, through writing or discussion. But you make a great point on how SXSW could be a bit more creatively presented, too; I hadn’t thought that one through but you’re completely right.

It'd be interesting to see how you'd tweak these ideas for an educational setting.

A lot of schools (k12 and higher ed) are lost when it comes to encouraging creativity. Seems like there'd be a good fit there if presented and focused properly.

Proof Behance can take a "time-out" for some Lego fun.
