FOUR WOMEN

Campaign, Concept Design, Illustration,
In efforts of Highlighting Mental Health Awareness, I drew inspiration from Nina Simone's song "Four Women" (1966), which personifies the story of four African American women in American society. This series serves as a deterrent, removing the negative stereotypes and influencing viewers to broaden their perspectives of African American women by illustrating them in a more delicate light.
To create this series, I utilized Adobe Illustrator and photographic references of individuals who partook in a indepth personality test. The four muses provided a photo in which I converted into a monochromatic illustration using tints and shades in order to mimic the highlights and shadows of each individual. After reassessing the results of each personality, I researched the nature of flowers to assign to each muse’s personality. I decided to use spring colors to capture a moment of blossoming and continuous growth.
