Her Chosen Sculptures for the Burning Man Site:

FLAME

element in nature. It symbolizes hope and destruction at the same time, it relates to
climate change, temperature, interdependence and solidarity

ECHOS

They evoke a memory of familial clusters in the landscape, creating a ghostly presence.

SEED

1. LARGE EXHIBITION SPACE
2. FABRICATION SPACE/WORKSHOP
3. RESIDENCE
4.OUTSIDE FABRICATION SPACE
5. CONNECTION BETWEEN WORKSHOP AND RESIDENCE

1. LARGE EXHIBITION SPACE
This is the space where all the chosen sculptures are exhibited . The form/shape of the structure is inspired by the sculpture 'the flame'. This design is made up of paper tubes and ikea catalogue pages. The ikea catalogue pages are winded on the paper tubes with the help of paper winding process. In this design the most important element is the length of the tubes and how they stabilise the structure. However, this structure also the height and openness makes it a private space/atmosphere.

This design has three spaces to accommodate all the three chosen sculptures.

In the morning this space becomes a place for meditation and Yoga, during the day this space becomes exhibition space for the artists' sculptures and during the night this space serves as a party space in the desert.

The reason for making this with white paper was that during the paper winding process we are going to use only the white sheet from the ikea catalogue so that it contrasts with the sculptures and stands out.
2. FABRICATION/WORKSHOP SPACE

This space is fully designed to make most use of the sunlight during the day.

In the morning it serves the purpose of fabrication space, during the day as a workshop and during the night, a small get to gather space for the artist.

3. RESIDENCE

During the day the residence will provide the artist from the extreme heat and wind.

ENVIRONMENTAL STRATEGY:
For this project we have used paper as a material. Our major source of paper was Ikea catalogue and paper tubes. And while moving ahead with the design resolution, I also introduced recycled timber for the supporting structure for the workshop and residence only. I tried to avoid using structures in the large exhibition space to reduce the amount of any new unsustainable material. For this project our main aim was to examine the sustainably of our chosen material. While researching I found out that the glossy nature of ikea catalogue emits radio active radiations which are harmful for our body and environment. We used the printed catalogue as our material for designing and construction of an sculptor's residence, exhibition space and workshop. The ikea catalogue pages are not that sustainable to the environment, do the only solution is to reduce the use of it and go paper less. Or else burn it.
