Face in hole project for Bruun´s Gallery

The target was to create some artwork which visitors of the store could interact with during the theme weeks called “twisted weeks”
Bruuns Gallery is owned by Steen & Strøm, which operates 54 shopping centers in Denmark, Norway and Sweden. In addition, Bruuns Gallery is the largest city shopping center and in 2010 had an attendance of over 11 million guests, making it the country’s most visited shopping mall.
They needed something which visitors of the store could interact with during their theme weeks called “twisted weeks”. They had seen the face in hole collage which I had done for TrailerPark 2011 and loved the idea. This is what we chose, so that people could stand behind and have pictures taken of themselves. The idea was not that one should look like something, but more look “twisted”.
I started the process of sawing and using power tools, at “Huset” a place with great workshop opportunities. Then I got the pieces shipped home to my kitchen where I finished them, by adding layers and layers of paint.
