Gamcheon Culture Village / 감천문화마을

<Gamcheon Culture Village>
Gamcheon Culture Village(감천문화마을), located in Saha District(사하구), Busan(부산), South Korea, is well known for its various artworks, painted streets and houses.

<골목을 누비는 물고기(A Fish Wandering the alley)>, 진영섭 작가 (Jin Yeong Sub)
Refugees gathered to village after Korean War. The place still preserves the history of Korea, by showing old buildings and labyrinth-like alleys.
<사람 그리고 새(The Man and the Bird)>, 전영진 작가 (Jeon Yeong Jin)
Unlike other residential sites, which were redeveloped to build brand new apartments during 1960-1970, Gamcheon Village still remained its shape until 2000s because of its geological features.
Instead of renewal, local artists and residents began to revive its value with <Village Art Project>. Various work of arts, including paintings, sculptures, are displayed in the village.
In 2017 and 2018, according to Saha district, 2 million tourists have visited village. And last year, 2019, 3 million people went to see its beautiful scenery. The village itself still aims for ‘Preservation’ and ‘Regeneration.’
