Saints of Soul by Miss Me
Montreal, February 20th 2015 - For Montreal’s Nuit Blanche on Saturday February 28, Fresh Paint Gallery - Space 256 will present the opening of the very first gallery exhibition of Montreal street artist Miss Me “Saints of Soul - Beauty ThroughHardhip”.
Music sways street artist ‘’Miss Me’’, especially Jazz, RnB and Hip Hop. These music genres stem from one common history & origin: soul. As a singer, she worships her heros Billie Holliday, Nina Simone, George
Gershwin, Marving Gaye and Michael Jackson. Her exhibition Saints of Soul was born out of that passion.
Miss Me raises these geniuses-musicians into saints, as hallowed icons becoming guides, lights in our daily lives. Using both precious and raw mediums, her artwork creates a startling contrast in the gallery, recalling
the urban environment of the artist, bringing fullness to it.
Through this exhibition, the artist pays a tribute to these musicians, fundamentally touched by their stories and commitments. According to her, each of them has been able to transform pain and difficulties of this world into a sacred immortal beauty. With Saints of Soul - Beauty Through Hardship, a continuation of her public artwork, it is the first time that Miss Me’s work will be presented in gallery.
