I wrote a monograph about the history and use of the typeface Centaur by Bruce Rodgers. The example below is a splash page of the first page of the book. It sets up the book's purpose, which is a study on Centaur, Rodgers' most famous typeface. My study reveals that this typeface remains viable in the modern typographical demands; however, it often requires complementary typefaces to work. By this I mean, Centaur is highly readable for body text, but it lacks font variability to provide emphasis and typographical hierarchy.
