El mito de la creación de la tierra para la mitología mexica narra la historia en la que los dioses Quetzalcoatl y Tezcatlipoca hicieron emerger de las profundidades del infinito océano a la criatura Cipactli, para conformar la tierra con su cuerpo. Para lograr esta hazaña Tezcatlipoca corta y ofrenda su pie como carnada, mientras la criatura devora su pie, Quetzalcoatl liquida al ser mitológico, logrando su cometido.
The myth of the creation of the earth for Mexica mythology tells the story in which the gods Quetzalcoatl and Tezcatlipoca made the creature Cipactli emerge from the depths of the infinite ocean, to conform the ground with its body. To achieve this feat, Tezcatlipoca cuts and offers its foot as bait, while the creature devours its foot, Quetzalcoatl liquidates the mythological being, achieving its mission.
