Fashion & Film | British Film Institute

For the Graphics and Imaging project we were asked to create a publication involving fashion and film using only 3 colours which would be published within the British Film Institute. One of my favourite genres has always been Superheros so I wanted to look into how the costumes, colours and bold prints impact fashion and design. I researched into different designers and fashion comics and designer Philip Lim produced a comic for his 3.1 collection in Fall 2012 which was so strong that I decided I wanted to create something similar but with a twist. I looked into the runway shows to look at the comparison between the the comic book designs and the fashion designs in order to see how influential they actually are. I chose to look at two designers, Balenciaga and Gareth Pugh, whos 2007 runways were heavily influenced by comic book in order to create a publication based on a fight to the finsh style comic publication with a poster opening out onto the back. I experiemented with numerous techniques but the one which stuck was screen printing and due to this I decided to create my publication this way.
