återSKAPA , located in Malmö, Sweden, is a creative reuse, design, and children education center. Focused on playful design processes to expand subject knowledge, their aim is to increase environmental awareness and stimulate creativity, initiative and ingenuity. återSKAPA don’t see waste material as garbage, but treat it as an opportunity for creation, communication and all around education. återSKAPA is built up around a material bank, full to the rafters of discarded industrial waste where items are given a new purpose at their creative workshop space.
Together with artist and designer Aleksandar Škorić - Saša, återSKAPA experimented with patterns and materials. Children and adults explored simple forms and shapes during workshops held by Saša. This process continued at STPLNS through different workshops, where they laser-cut, screen-printed and sewn their first lifestyle collection of objects for everyday use made out of waste materials. For these products they used sail boat textiles, high tear and wear textiles made for long sun and rain exposures and can withstand extreme weather conditions for a prolonged period of time.
