We have only bits and pieces of information but what we know for certain is that we know nothing about the initial event.
Some talk about the result of pure and simple accident. An insignificant clumsiness resulting in an unstoppable chain reaction that would have led to a generalized catastrophe.
Others evoke a planned global attack similar to the massive bombing by the Versailles troops carried out on Paris on May 1st, 1871.
Others think that it is a slow natural collapse linked to the death instinct of each civilization.
Be that as it may, Paris, as we knew it at the beginning of the twenty-first century, has totally disappeared. Only palaces and ruined streets remain.
