Daruma Izakaya - Japanese Restaurant
Daruma Izakaya is located in Beijing, China.
Late 2018 I've been contacted by David who is one of the persons who run Daruma.
He wanted a vintage japanese atmosphere for the restaurant. The main challenge for me was to create something deeply japanese in the identity but also to make visuals that would interest chinese customers.
The menus and cards would be in chinese, japanese and english as the restaurant is located in the touristic area.
I used the daruma as the main character for the visual identity, knowing it would also serve as a cool mascott.
I've been also commissioned to design the neons, curtains, food and drinks menu, t-shirt, promotional posters and so on.
I'll always be thankful towards David and the Daruma restaurant. They're one of my first big clients who helped me to start as a freelance worker right after my studies, so thank you again for your trust guys !
