AEROSOL PAINT ON WALL | 15 HOURS PAINTING WORK
This is a painting collaboration project with @its.wazer and @freshphysics . The production located in Shah Alam, Malaysia and takes about 15 hours to complete. In this project, my responsibility was to determine the art direction and the overall concept. Tbh the true challenge was to use only leftovers spray cans & paint from our past graffiti/mural projects. For that reason, you can see that we’re actually playing with only monochrome color scheme & eventually using a very minimal cost to achieve this kind of outcome.
This painting is a visualisation & reflection of our struggle to spread the ideology of stylewriting graffiti in the early days. During that early period (2000-2010) only a few understandable people supported the street art movement and the rest wanted to see us down and sadly to be punished by the law.
They viewed graffiti as a negative act but little did they know, majorities of the graffiti artist astonishingly have great educations, works and even life backgrounds and most importantly have deep passion & desire towards this creative movement. I believe that this (slightly hardship) situation is happening all over the world too, and we dedicate this production to those who never stop promoting the good side of graffiti. After all it’s all about expressing your skills & creativity!
On the bright side, graffiti nowadays finally has been recognised as a valuable art form even to the public eyes and it can be one of a successful career opportunity. We would like to express our high gratitude to other graffiti artists (portrait / characters / abstract) who ultimately helps a lot to change the public perceptions & acceptance of this creative movement. Hoping that Malaysia’s graffiti scene expending to the next level. Keep workin’ workin’ don’t stop! Pz out!
