Steel and Glass
Singapore Financial District
A great number of the office buildings in the Singapore financial district are built in this modern era.  Steel and glass are prominent materials used in these high rise buildings.  Probably steel and glass are symbolic of the desired nature of the financial business: solid and transparent.

However surrounded by all these tall modern looking building sits an octagonal building, known as Lau Pa Sat, that was built in the Victorian era.  Now topping Lau Pa Sat sits a clock tower.
