The Renaissance Faire

1. By using a shallow depth of field I am able to isolate my main subject.  While also adding to the mystery of where this place might be.
2. This image tells the story of my subject first walking into the Renaissance Faire.  This also informs you of one of the main attractions of the Renaissance Faire, the tasting of different ales and wines of that time period.
3. This image represents the beginning of a fun filled day at the Renaissance Faire.
1.  For this shot I really wanted to show the texture of these items of old.  I also chose to make this black and white to reflect an older time period.
2.  This shot shows what kind of things you can find at the Renaissance Faire.  This showcases what archers of the time period wore for protection.
3.  This shows that their are more things to the Renaissance Faire then just ale and wine.  There are various displays like this one which will educate you on the items used during that time period.
1.  I used balance in this shot.  This shot was almost perfectly balanced in-between these two trees and the roof tip can draw a line right down the middle of the frame.  I also chose black and white to represent an older time in history.
2.  This shot tells the story of how some of the buildings are constructed at that Renaissance Faire to represent the time period.  This shows the dedication to this yearly event and show the attention to detail.
3.  This shot shows what kind of structures you can expect to see at the Renaissance Faire.  This authenticity add to the overall experience of the Fair it self.
1.  Using a shallow depth of field I am able to separate my subject from the background.  This also give me the ability to focus on the items that are on the table.  Black and white again was chosen to give it that period feel.
2.  This tells a story of a person you might encounter at the Renaissance Faire.  This also show that he is at a blacksmith's station seeking weaponry or armor of some kind.
3.  This really adds to the experience of the Renaissance Faire.  At times when looking around you really feel as if your were in that time period.
1.  I really used color to draw your eye to the beautiful flowers.  Again using shallow depth of field to take away from the background.  Also I put the entrance off to the side of this shot to show that there is more to discover then just the pub scene.
2.  This tells the story of one of the main attractions to the Renaissance Faire, the pub scene.  At the same time it show the beauty of the place.
3.  This photo sits between my next two photos.  The next photo taking place in the pub itself and the photo after that taking place at the Joust arena which you can make out in this background.
1.  I shot this from a lower perspective to give my subject more presence.  I also lined his head up with the wooden beam in the roof.  This wooden beam somewhat guides your eyes to him drinking.
2.  This is a very common scene to see in the Renaissance Faire, drinking in the local pub.  What made the experience authentic was the use of each person's customized drinking cup, in this case, the drinking horn.
3.  After a visit to the pub, the rest of the Renaissance Faire becomes more exciting.  On to the fun of the Joust.
1.  I used the diagonal line of the divider to add depth to this shot.  I decided to keep this color to showcase the colors on the knights and horses.  I used a fast shutter speed to freeze the moment before these knights struck each other.
2.  This shot shows one of the many events you can attend at the Renaissance Faire.  This shows how the knights of old use to have Jousting competitions for money and recognition.
3.  This was really great to see and added to the overall experience of the Renaissance Faire.  This was one of the more exciting events to take place.
1.  I shot this from a lower perspective to give this church a bigger appearance.  I also used balance in this shot, with the doorway between the two knights of armor.  I also wanted to showcase the textures of the building and knights.
2.  After a day of fighting at the Joust, you must visit the church to pay your respects to god and to confess your sins of the day.  But don't worry one of those sins isn't drinking which this priest makes abundantly clear.
3.  This display showcased how small churches use to be organized during this time period.  Just out of frame was a Nun that supplied historical information about the church during this time period.
1.  I used the tree on the right to somewhat frame the rest of this shot.  I kept this shot color because in black and white the trees blend together more then the already do.  The small shops on the left also follow a diagonal line which is part of the dirt path.
2.  This really show how the Renaissance Faire looks, with an abundance of shops, all tailored to items of the time period.  This also tells the story of how rural and undeveloped the land of old was.
3.  While walking around the Renaissance Faire there is never a shortage of things to look at things available for purchase.  If everyone were in costume this scene would have right from the time period.
1.  I shot this from a lower perspective to capture the lines in the building behind my subjects.  Three points which lead into the inside corner of this building and my three subjects in-line to the building.  Again, black and white for the period feel.
2.  The cosplayers, the true heroes of the Renaissance Faire which make the experience come to life.  Without these hero's it would just be a boring Faire with alcohol.
3.  The Renaissance Faire is fun and as you can tell has plenty of activities to keep you entertained.  If you want a full amazing experience then come dressed for the time period.
