Vection mission patch

This mission patch was designed for the Vection experiment, an initiative in partnership with the Canadian Space Agency, European Space Agency, and the Centre for Vision Research (CVR) at York University.

The experiment looks at crew-members' ability to judge and process their own movement, in order to improve safety and on the International Space Station and in future space travel.

As vection is the sensation of movement of the body in space produced purely by visual stimulation, the stars were given a treatment to give the impression that they were in motion—or, that the person was moving.

The Earth can be seed down below, specifically the Great Lakes area, home to CVR and York University.
