Wander Studio | Koganecho Bazaar 2018
Psychogeography is the study of the specific effects of the geographical environment, consciously organized or not, on the emotions and behavour of individuals. This is used to explore the quality of a place in terms of its conditions of modernity. In order to examine a place’s state, psychogeographers advocates the act of becoming lost in a place or ‘wandering’.
For Koganecho Bazaar 2018: Flying Supermarket, Escuri will create ‘Wander Studio’, a project that will explore the impact of architecture, urban environment and soundscape quality of Koganecho and its neighboring places to the people around it as perceived by the artist through space interventions.
As the name suggests, Wander Studio is a moving studio that is placed to eight (8) unconventional public or private spaces (such as supermarket, underpass, house garden, alley, sidewalk, artist studio, etc.) that situate the artist in unpredictable circumstances. This project not only examines the local’s impression to the idea of a pop-up music studio, but also examines how these different places and situations affect the artist’s musical output. During the Wander Studio the artist will produce* sound map / drawings, sound recordings, and musical compositions inspired by his interaction with the place and locals of Koganecho.
