Conceptualization:
I want to represent a family crest that not only displays what is important to me and my family, but along with a physical representation of those qualities.
Sketches:
Drafts:
Critique:
1st draft - People's opinions on this draft was that it was clean, however, it was appeared empty, like I could put more onto this crest.
2nd draft - People said they really loved the "H" in the middle of the shield and the how the Mexican flag is projected. The concepts of the symbols are clear.
Final Product:
I am satisfied with this final product because it displays exactly what my family means to me. The three flowers represents my Polynesian heritage and how there are three brothers in my family, which are me, my older brother, and my younger brother. The "H" represents my family's last initial. The symbol in the top left corner represents how my family cooks their own food. The bottom left corner is an airplane that represents how we travel to see our distant family members. The bottom right represents a jar filled with jam and a tamale. Tradition is very important in my family. Every year, we always make jam and tamales. The top right corner is a baseball. My parents love the LA Dodgers and they even played baseball and softball themselves. The Mexican flag represents my Mexican heritage. Lastly, the banner is just a "cherry on top" to this whole crest that just restates my family in one.
