In my spare time I help upcoming and amateur film makers get their work (old and new) onto streaming platforms like Amazon Prime. My friends at My Production provide film distribution, but occasionally a talented film maker needs a new film cover. This can be either due to legal obligations to differ from an existing DVD cover, or that they simply don't have any artwork to represent their film. That's where I come in.
The vast majority of my skills using Photoshop came from creating textures for 3D models back when I worked in computer games. My current work in UI/UX designs doesn't usually involve much photo manipulation so I enjoy getting back into it to help. The majority of film makers I help have little to no assets to provide. No production shoots, no publicity shoots. Usually just a name and stills from the final film itself.
Paranormal Farm II: Closer To The Truth is a found footage horror filmed entirely on a smart phone.
I enjoy the challenges this brings and how I can utilise the limitations to define the overall concept. Above is the cover for Paranormal Farm II: Closer To The Truth which is filmed entirely from the perspective of the main protagonist as he interviews members from the first film. That gave me the idea to modernise the "He's behind you" moment horror movies usually reveal using a mirror and instead use the smartphones forward facing camera.
Unreleased Title. Film cover composed using stills from the official trailer.
The most satisfying part of what I do is helping the film stand out by getting it the attention it deserves. More often than not, the film makers are blown away by the end result and it makes them feel incredibly proud of their hard work. The writer and director of The Honeykiller even has his frames and hanging up in his office.
