"Supporting Working Families for 55 Years"

About the video:
Created for Boys & Girls Clubs of the Midland's (BGCM) largest fundraising event "On the Road", I wanted to video to focus on how the Clubs not only help children but supports the whole family. Over 65% of BGCM youths come from single parent household making less than the Nebraska median income. Alisa's story was chosen because I was inspired by her story and conviction. Her story shows how a struggling African American single mom can pull herself and her family out of poverty through education, support from her community, and the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Midlands.

A story board was used to layout the initial theme, story, and scenes. I know I wanted to use a split screen to show two active lives, one of Alisa working multiple jobs and the other of her son's active life at the Club while she works late. At the end of the busy day, you see the two worlds slowing down and merging when Alisa is excitedly greeted by her son as she picks him up after work. I wanted viewers to reach a resolution as they realize the two characters are family. The video continues with an interview with Alisa talking about how the Club has changed her life.
