Computational Prototyping (Arduino)

By detecting human’s presence and absence, it can save energy consumption.

This prototype senses the body and object’s proximity by using ultrasonic sound waves. Then it responds with various lighting density base on the distance. It gets brighter when the body is closer, it fades out when the body is far away. An ultrasonic sensor uses a transducer to send and receive ultrasonic pulses that relay back information about an object’s proximity. This created the fade in and out effect for the lighting. Then I experimented with the lighting colours, at the 50cm distance, it started out by low density with a cool tone, once it reached its halfway it gradually brightened up and turned into a warm tone.
