Fool's Gold - installation

This is a second part of my project Fool's Gold, an installation of a modern altar. While the outer photographs represent the images of Adam and Eve, the plant in the middle stands for the tree in the garden. With the use of framed LCD screens, images gradually dip into red, green and blue monochromes, following their final transformation to white - the colour we get from mixing particular colours of light. Similarly to the concept inspired by the story about the beginning of the world, the colour palette is sourced from the basis of photography - RGB colour mixing. The monochromatic approach in this work comes from the essential understanding of colours as wearers of meaning. Moreover, their power to represent abstract or spiritual values is widely known from the practice of the artists working in the New Realism movement during 1960s.
