Literary Anthology (Life and Limb, 2004)

In the Fall of 2003 I created and co-edited Life and Limb: Skateboarders Write from the Deep End (Soft Skull Press). Published in 2004, this anthology of short fiction (written entirely by skateboarders) highlights the creative, artistic, and communal spirit that skateboarders everywhere know and share.
As an editor, I launched the original campaign to collect submissions of written work and visual art from both well- and lesser-known skateboarders. I also edited individual works of writing, co-edited the entire manuscript, and organized and managed a nationwide promotional tour in support of the book's release.
In advance of the book's release-party and reading we received mention in The New Yorker, including the endearing cartoon seen above and a short write-up:

"In skateboarding, a sport for outsiders and misfits, for those who haven't grown up or who are lucky enough not to have ever grown up, authenticity is the coin of the realm. 'Life and Limb,' a new anthology published by Brooklyn's own Soft Skull Press, is as authentic as they come -- all the piece were written by folks who have spent more time on a board than might be considered healthy..."
