My concept for this illustration was to use the mechanics of a slipstream, that is, the lowered resistance when positioned behind a moving object, to visualize the (intellectual) advantages enjoyed by those operating behind recognizable role models. We still have a long way to go when it comes to providing role models of all genders and backgrounds before we can cast off stereotype threat as a thing of the past.
