La perdita e il viaggio come processo di transito e trasformazione da custodire e portar con sé in valigia. L’attesa, la memoria, la visione negata, una luce quotidiana e familiare. Il tempo metafora del nulla, luogo figurato dell’attimo sospeso e imprevedibile. Expectāre et Manēre è un’installazione ambientale. L’opera si compone di una valigia aperta, dentro la quale sono cementificate due casse che riproducono regitrazioni audio effettuate all’interno della chiesa sconsacrata di San Barbaziano. I brusii, le voci e i suoni urbani sono filtrati dalle pareti di una struttura decadente, immobile e dimenticata. Sempre all’interno, disposte sulla superficie della valigia, quattro mattonelle volontariamente frantumate e una macchinina giocattolo. I motivi decorativi pre-senti sulle mattonelle sono chiaro riferimento alla pavimentazione sacra e ricercata, tipica dei luoghi di culto. Questo elemento si pone in contrasto con la macchinina, anch’essa vittima della caducità del tempo, simbolo a sua volta di una delle molteplici vite del luogo, ovvero l’utilizzo della chiesa come garage. Dall’alto un lampadario estratto dalla struttura, illumina la valigia custode e conservatrice di memorie. L’assenza del protagonista. L’attesa che qualcuno torni. Aspettare e rimanere prima di partire. In fondo chi sta aspettando? non sa nemmeno come sia fatto. Stasera non verrà ma domani sicuramente arriverà a guardare cosa c’è oltre quella soglia. Oggi è il caso di restare qui nel buio sotto una luce confortante.

The time metaphor of nothingness, a figurative place of the moment suspended and unpredictable. Expectāre et Manēre is an environmental installation. The work is made up of an open suitcase, in which two speakers are reproducing sound arranged within the sanctuary church of San Barbaziano. The bumps, sounds and urban sounds are filtered from the walls of a decadent, immobile and forgotten structure. Always inside, arranged on the suitcase surface, four voluntarily crushed tiles and a toy car. The precious decorative motifs on the tiles are clear reference to the sacred and sought-after pavement, typical of the places of worship. This element contrasts with the car, also a victim of the fall of time, a symbol of one of the multiple lives of the place, that is, the use of the church as a garage. From above a chandelier extracted from the structure, illuminates the custody and conservative suitcase of memories. The absence of the protagonist. The wait for someone to come back. Wait and stay before you leave. In the end who's waiting? He does not even know how it is done. Tonight will not come but tomorrow will surely come to look at what's over that threshold. Today is the case to stay here in the dark under a comforting light.
