Pagan Cremation - Photo bashing

Photo bashing technique - 30 minutes

I'm gonna talk a little bit about the process behind creating this piece, which is something that i don't usually do, because i think if you have to explain something you are not communicating it well enough.

I wanted to depict a pagan cremation in a shot, portraying the departure of a soul through a funeral pyre. The peasants stand in almost black color in the foreground so what matters in the piece stand out completely.

The photo of the forest was a bit bright so i had to edit it in order to give a gloom, dark feeling to it but also whimsical in order not to loose the magic that is so important to pagansl. The bottom starts with a black gradient (This is almost the same as a fade in or fade out in a song), and it moves on towards the point of interest, which is the funeral pyre, and continues through the stairs until it goes again to light. By doing this i'm trying to guide you through the ''painting'' by the means of light. Light guides attention.

I didn't elaborate it much, neither added any details because it would loose the meaning of it, that is to explore moods and ambiences of a shot. It's supposed to be sketchy and quick, and i can make various like these to depic different scenes.
