Projection: Impossible

Brief: "Create a replaceable situation that will create an experience for others. It must be facilitated by the mini projector in some way."
This is the Soulja Boy "Crank That" loop I projected for my final iteration.
My projection location outside Bird Library
This spot is perfect because it has low light but still has a lot of foot traffic. I was betting on people reacting to my projection as they were forced to swipe into the library.
A few people just flew past the projection doing the dance move in passing. This guy was really into it.
These guys, along with others, were very curious as to what I was doing, and they asked me a lot of questions. Once they realized that I was filming, they wanted to dance together on camera.
Many people stared at the projection for a moment and went on with their business. However, not everyone reacted so mildly.
A lengthy line of drunken troglodyte bros crossed behind me as I projected. Several of them outright danced up and down the stairs, but one of them screamed at me to stop taking pictures and videos. So I did.
My original goal was to use my projection to either make people move in a certain way, or move object(s) in a certain way.
My first attempt involved me climbing into a tree in the Quad and projecting the following footprint video onto the sidewalk. Almost no one reacted as I expected them to; only one guy followed the footsteps. I then had to return to my original question: how can I get people to move as I want them to?
Site 2 is where I projected the Crank That loop along with the Crank That footprint video, which follows.
Site 3 is the location of my final projection.
How would I improve my experiment? I would first bring louder speakers so that people had a more difficult time ignoring the projection. Second, I would project it somewhere where people weren't so stressed/serious/sober.
