A Tarot of Ink

A hand painted tarot deck.

The Game Crafter's Deal of the Day, October14, 2021: https://www.thegamecrafter.com/games/a-tarot-of-ink

All elements from packaging, card layout, and graphic design, to the painting and ink work are done by me.

Painted in India ink and inverted against a watercolor background. A largely traditional Tarot deck with some fairly significant sub-patterns for allowing use by suit, major arcana, or chosen subsets. The only requirement for use is informed consent.

There are as many ways to use a Tarot deck as there are articles on the internet. The Vac suggests that you find one you are comfortable with, and has built this deck to function as a whole, by suit, by major arcana, and by subset. It holds that your system is for you, and that you should be clear on what you’re aiming for, even if the only aim at a given moment is, “I’m learning how this works.”

The Vac is a contract/consent ethicist, which boils down to: “The sole mattering thing is free will, thus it is imperative not to breach consent, and that breach of consent contracts to be stopped.” Thus, this deck is designed to work within those strictures. The Vac politely requests you abide by this, and suggests that consent breach in general is a bad plan.

Your informed consent matters as well: When using this deck, it is completely acceptable to say, “Stop,” And set limits before engaging in things, Tarot included. Just remember to be clear what those limits are, and abide by your contracts. The Vac holds that’s also a perfectly acceptable approach any other situation.

There are two variations from a standard Tarot deck here: The Fallen replaces The Devil, and The Hanged replaces The Hanged Man. Take this as you will.
