"Galeotto fu il libro e chi lo scrisse"
an illustration about Guinevere and Lancelot
This illustration is part of an art trade I did with @FabsNocera. The theme ("galeotto fu il libro" - which you could translate with "it was fault of the book") is a reference to Dante's Inferno, V poem, in which Paolo and Francesca fall in love reading Lancelot and Guinevere's love story.
"When we read there of how the longed-for smile
Was being kissed by that heroic lover,
This man, who never shall be severed from me,
"Trembling all over, kissed me on the mouth.
That book — and its author — was a pander!
In it that day we did no further reading."
Was being kissed by that heroic lover,
This man, who never shall be severed from me,
"Trembling all over, kissed me on the mouth.
That book — and its author — was a pander!
In it that day we did no further reading."
