Star Wars Datavizualisation
For my first Datavizualisation workshop with the renowned French data science company 10h11 (www.10h11.com), we were tasked to create an interactive datavizualisation.
Our only constraints were to use at least 4 data categories, everything else was open.
At the time we were waiting patiently for the release of Star Wars episode VIII : The Last Jedi, and with all the communication hype around the movie in Paris we couldn't resist.
The project was based on :
The time it would take us to watch all the movies
The month and year of the movie release
The box office numbers of entry by day (30 days)
The characters in the movies
The number of appearances in scenes
The importance of each character's scene
The movie highlighted events
When thinking about how our collected data could be displayed in a readable and aesthetic way we had to keep in mind that we not only wanted them to keep the Star Wars DNA.
This data will help us speculate on theories for the new movie and keep track of everything that happened in the past episodes
It can also be useful for theaters to get prepared and hire extra staff on busy days
As you can see in this screen, we also have different filters, once selected the character's scenes through out the episodes are highlighted so you can follow their life-cycle.
