Origami Design App

Introduction
Origami Design is a suite of digital tools to create highly interactive mobile applications without writing code. It consists of a desktop design application and a view app on iOS and Android.

Below is a overview of the different interfaces and components connected to those interfaces and pipelines.

The design work here began with the conceptual development of what it means to design a touch based interactive experience and  what components this type of an experience is made of.  From there the pipeline was developed and the mechanics of how the various tools needed to work together. Finally each application was designed from the ground up from workflows to icon systems.

iOS and Android viewer apps.

Typography was at the core of the design system. In oder to provide a unified typographic experience across OS X, iOS and Android we developed a new type engine. The engine is characterized by giving the design a very degree of control over all typographic settings and supporting western, arabic and vertical typography.

The examples below illustrate hanging punctuation (Optical Margin Adjustment in Adobe products) in the system.

One of the interface elements in Origami Design is the inspector. This is a model panel that reveals settings for the currently selected object. Below are examples of various inspector states.

Below is the icon system for features and components in the application suite designated both by color and symbol. The color icons are the core elements that make up the authoring system.

The black and white icons are features and behaviors not part of the design/authoring process. They are mainly used in the publishing and management of the application.

Below are some examples of applications built with Origami Design.
