FLIGHT OF THE CONCHORDS
Official Tour T Shirt 2010
The story:
A good friend and brilliant designer Georgina asked me one day if I would be interested in doing a t-shirt design for Flight of the Conchords. Georgina had been doing many designs for Brett and Jermaine (the stars of Flight of the Conchords) and said they were wanting an illustrator to take on the next shirt design-- so being a fan myself I said, totally!! Brett and Jermaine gave me one simple direction and that was they loved 80's rock tours shirts and in particularly the sci-fi/ rock look of Journey's tour shirts.
I designed up Brett and Jermaine as magical space men with glowing eyes and giving a super sonic high five. Originally their flesh tones were going to be blue--but that didn't stick.
Wonderfully, Brett and Jermaine dug my intitial sketches so much that they asked to put a rush to final, making the shirt be the official world tour shirt. If you are lucky enough to see them live in your town --check out the shirt. They will most likely make this shirt available soon for online purchase.
