I had some fun creating a small lettering piece for the contact page of my website, emilyras.com
I began by doing ink sketches with a Zebra disposable brush pen to determine the best layout and letter shape.
When I had a sketch I liked, I traced it in pencil on tracing paper, adjusting the spacing and shape of the letters where needed. I often do this step using the Procreate app on my iPad, which is faster, but since I was creating this for myself, I took some time to do it the old-fashioned way (because it's fun!).
Then I took the traced, polished sketch into Illustrator and vectorized it.
I played with colors and outlines until I found something I liked - I like bright, friendly, dynamic quality of this combination. You can see it in action on my About/Contact page.
