Commissioned portrait of Sir David Attenborough. When I saw this picture of a young Sir David kissing a Cockatoo I knew it was perfect - uniquely Australian and full of expression. I'm honestly lost for words to describe him. His passion for the environment is contagious, his narration is timeless. He is responsible for some of the most fascinating documentaries I have ever seen - too many to list. I chose to draw this as large as I possibly could - 56x76cm on 270gsm Stillman and Birn art paper. 25 hours of crosshatching with my trusty Zig Millennium markers. The dark background was particularly tiresome, it took around 12 hours and 2 or 3 pens.
