Moon
Touri
October of 2008 we went to South of Gansu Province for half a month to make our National Art Investigation. All the way along, we walked from the middle of China to the mysterious west, from the modern city to the natural life. We saw the world of Tibetan Buddhism and the Islamism, we saw the life of Tibetan and Moslem. It's a great culture shock from what we had, but it also enrichs our life.
After the travel, we would like to do some design for these places as well as for our bueatiful memory.
During the trip, we experienced two big festivals in China, one is the Mid-autumn Festival, the other is the Eid ul-Fitr of moslem. They are all connected with the moon. Therefore, we chose some tipical signs of the moslem to design the collection of tourist souvenirs "MOON"--fragrance candlestick, a nootbook and a series of condiment jars.
The logo design

The idea is from the Chinese of moslem--穆斯林。We took the first character to represent it, and gave the last part of the character a transformation to the English letter "m", which is the beginning of the word "moon". Moreover, the Chinese character "穆“ shares the same pronunciation of the letter "moon", which matches our theme perfectly.
The moon is sacred in public believe of moslem, we designed the candlestick based on the form of the crescent. Also, we would like to put some tipical moslem spice inside.
Along the trip, we saw great deal of bueatiful patterns and characters carve, we hoped we could have drawn all of them on our nootbook. Therefore, we designed a notebook with the copy carbon inside, when we meet some bueatiful sculpture, we could rub them on the notebook.
The moslem architecture made a strong impression on us. The spire and dome are so different from the the buildings in the mordern cities. Then we designed a series of condiment jars which have spire or dome bottle caps.
We also designed the packaging of the collection of the tourist souvenirs. We used the recyclable paper and a few pattern of moslem.
