Problem Definition
Traditionally, football at all levels was only played on grass meaning that football players only required one pair of football boots (classic 6 stud configuration).
These days, however, footballers can expect to play on a variety of surfaces, each of which require a different outsole to ensure optimal surface/boot interaction. Children and amateurs footballers in particular play on a variety of different surfaces (grass, astro grass, astro turf, gym halls) and therefore need to buy several different pairs of boots/trainers to ensure optimal surface/boot interaction. This can be very expensive especially for parents who may have more than one child requiring several new pairs of boots every year as their children quickly grow out of them.

Design Solution
The Game Changer is a pair of football boots consisting of an upper part and an interchangeable outsole. This means that a player only has to own one pair of uppers with different outsoles to play on all surfaces (as opposed to several pairs of boots they would currently need to purchase). With this boot they will save money by only having to purchase one pair of boot uppers and then purchasing whatever other outsoles they require depending on the surfaces they frequently play on.
The customer will receive 1 pair of boot uppers and 1 pair of interchangeable soles. They will then be able to purchase other outsoles separately. There will be 5 different outsoles available in a variety of styles and colours.

The Double Tongue
To improve the quality of contact between a player’s boot and the ball a hidden lace system was devised.
The design requires the boot to have two tongues: an inner tongue (1) to protect the foot from being in direct contact with the laces and an outer tongue (2) that can completely conceal the laces. The outer tongue is in two layers: the bottom layer is the shape of the tongue opening with Velcro (3) corresponding to the Velcro inside the upper on either side (4).
The eyelets 5) are positioned beside these strips making them further away from each other than they normally would be. The second layer is the shape of the opening only. When the Velcro from the outer tongue is attached to the Velcro inside the tongue opening the laces are completely concealed.
