There is a big tree near my house and I can see it on my way to school every day, from spring to winter. When I knew that I need to draw something to show the change over time, I decided to draw this tree. In the beginning, I need to draw a sapling, which just comes out from soil. I used pencil to depict the shape of it, and then I used color pencil to color it. This is the first time which I used color pencil so I was not sure what kinds of green are most suitable for sapling. I tried different kinds of green and I found the most suitable color combination finally, which can show the emerald of sapling.

Trees have large change in different seasons so I decided to draw four seasons tree to show the change of it. In spring, some leaves begin to grow on the tree. I still used pencil to draw the draft and used color pencil to color it. I really want to show the details of trunk and branches but the color pencil is thick so I have to keep sharpening pencils during the process of drawing.

In summer, more leaves grow and become bigger and bigger. These leaves have some differences, such as, color, shape and size. I used different colors to draw different leaves. I also paid more attention to the details and color change of each leaf.

In early autumn, some leaves become withered and some leaves are still green. In the beginning, I still used pencil to draw the draft, and then I used warm color, including yellow, red and light green to show these leaves. I paid attention to choose the better color combination to ensure the good visual effect. I also used gradient color to draw some leaves, which has great and special effect.
