self assignment
I was eagerly awaiting this event, I had seen the signs around town. I had never been to a highland games, nor do I espouse any degree of my pedigree, however slight, to be of Irish descent. My family migrated from Girona, Spain, in the 1600's, fought a couple wars and dispersed into the new "America". So watching this stuff go on wasn't the makings of my "bucket list", although it might have been able to fit in a smaller bucket. It was entertaining and all the folks were nice.
Just for reference, they hold their clan allegiances strong. So strong that one of the feuds was settled between two clans in 1978, when one of the participants parents, one each from the feuding clans, married. Yikes! Let it go, bro'.
